Provoking

All the best discussions start with one or the other side being angry or upset about something. That's when people dare to say what they really think, what they believe is true.

When media turns into action movies, where do we draw our line? One of my teachers once told me about one time when her friend from America was here to visit her, and they were watching the news. The American visitor complained about how boring the news was to watch, back in America, they always had car chases and more action.

Well is media supposed to show what has happened around the world, or is it supposed to provide lazy, fat Americans with excitement for the day?

The more you watch something, the more you get used to it. American parents are used to watching cars crash and people get shot on the daily news feed, but when Marilyn Manson has sex on stage with another man, they declare war upon him.

But that's Manson's job. To make people declare war on what's wrong. The sad thing is that people don't realize what they're supposed to declare war on. They shoot the messenger.
